A municipal utility in the Northeastern US has for years faced growing ISO capacity costs and tightening transmission constraints, especially in the summer months. With a significant proportion of annual costs set by consumption levels during a few peak hours, selectively tapping into stored energy on-site promised to significantly alleviate grid congestion and reduce the utility’s cost burden.
Viridi’s RPS1200 was deployed in June 2025 as an energy management pilot at the utility’s main office park. Charge and Discharge cycles are scheduled and controlled by the utility to dynamically shave facility peaks, and system operation and monitoring is provided by ViSTA software platform. A Fall 2025 analysis will correlate the facility’s consumption reduction with ISO system peak hours to calculate financial benefits and collect lessons learned.
